[ the video shows Japan in the kitchen wearing his cooking wear, cutting something flat. Taking a triangular piece which he puts in a oriental style plate. The food looks like this ]

According to the calendar, it is June, so I thought I would make some Minazuki. If there is one thing I am glad about this mansion, is that there are all sorts of ingredients. It is practically possible to many any food there is here.

If anyone would like to eat some, please do. I made many so everyone can eat.

['sup, grandpa! Alex's face over the comm is curious. He's sort of a terrible cook himself, so it's always interesting to see other people prepare food.]

What are those, little cakes?

[ Grandson~ ]

The bottom is made out of Uiro, a sort of chewy steamed cake and the top are red beans. It is a traditional Japanese confectionery.

Beans? On a cake?

[he grins, and jokes:]

You're a whole new world to me, grandpa.

Yes, they are quite tasty.

[ Japan smiles back ]

So are you to me, Alex-san.

Consider me there. [Beans on cake sounds, uh... interesting, but he won't knock it till he's tried it, and he's totally trying one of these. The camera starts to jostle slightly as he moves around, out the door of his room, strolling down the corridor.]

I'd ask how you made them, but if I tried it I'd probably end up setting something on fire.

I will be waiting.

[ Japan sets the camera on the side and continues cutting the pieces while continuing the conversation ]

There are ways to make this with a microwave, if you would like to know.

[hopefully:] Microwaves doesn't sound too hard.

[Even though he's been known to explode things in microwaves. There may have been an Incident with eggs. On more than one occasion. But let's not talk about that!]

I am sure you can do it, Alex-san.

[ Japan will one day create unexplodable eggs for people like you. ...Or something like that ]

[And people like Alex will throw away their Super Noodles and build a statue in your honour. Or something.

Anyhow, let's say that the kitchen is getting close now. Alex grins again.]

Won't know without trying.

[ can you make it a gundam statue instead? ]

[ Japan takes few pieces and mounts them on a plate, while getting some tea ready ]

[Yes. Forever yes. Because a community is not complete without an eighteen-metre gundam looming over it.]

[He pushes open the door to the kitchen.]

[ yes. A Gundam is needed everywhere ]

Good timing, Alex-san.

[ on the kitchen table is a plate with few pieces of the Minazuki on it ]

I was just pouring the tea.

Brilliant. Uh--

[He bows carefully at the waist, then straightens and tries to remember if there are any important rules he should follow for tea with grandpa. The mansion's illusion is leaving him high and dry as regards Japanese etiquette and whether Japan will be offended if it isn't followed.]

[ Japan smiles and bows back in greeting ]

You do not need to force yourself. I understand your culture is different.

[ But grandpa does seem happy that Alex at least did it. Unlike some of his other grandchildren sob ]

Please, sit down. [ he gestured to the table with the Minazuki and tea on it ]

OLD MAN~ I've missed you <3 where have you been hiding?! I have something to ask you about cooking. I want to make something nice and traditional for Ryuho. He likes boring things.

I was in my room as always, Haru-san.

I would be glad to show you how. Was there anything Ryuho-san dislikes again? My old age sometimes messes up who likes what at time.

You need to come out more~ It's okay there's no one out here but family.

I don't think he likes sweet things or fried things. Maybe the healthier the better.

Hmm..Maybe Udon or Soba? Or how about Nikujyaga?

I've been practicing origami again. I don't know if it's very good though.

[Ganta picks up the camera and moves over to his desk. There are several stars and frogs, and what looks like it might be either a cat or a dog. The stars are pretty good. The frog is a little lopsided, and the cat/dog/whatever it is looks like he had to refold it several times.]

They're not that great. I think I'll get the hang of it if I practice more, though.

I think it looks cute.

It is called Minazuki, Dren-san. In Japan we eat it when June comes around.

[ I figured Japan would know what his grandchildren's names are. Even if they've never talked.]

I am almost finished, Taiwan-san. You do not need to worry, it is quite easy to make.
